In the glamorous Rat Pack days there was always a club that drew performers like bees to honey when they weren’t on stage themselves. Today, the hot spot is Josette’s Bistro on Flamingo one block west of Decateur.
There are regulars like pianist Randy Thomas and cabaret singer Kiki Kalor and guests such as The Jazz Dolls starring Gayle Steele (Clint Holmes’ talented sister) and Regie Brown performing “Great Female Jazz Singers Through the Years.” The stage is small, the talent, huge. Some of the biggest names on the Strip let their authentic French onion soup cool while they jump on stage and sing a song or two.
What makes Josette’s Bistro so much fun is Josette herself. Blonde and whisper thin, she’s always in perpetual motion, greeting guests, running to the kitchen or jumping on stage to hug one of her ‘regular’ favorite performers. Two HDTV screens show LeBlond truffle hunting in France, selecting ingredients and cooking up a storm. And for the meal to accompany the entertainment, enjoy Josette’s signature Normandie foie gras, escargots with garlic persil butter accompanied by a glass of Monmousseau Vouvay from the Loire Valley, and a Riesling from Alsace; chicken crepe as well as salmon stuffed with crab, end with a chilled glass of Muscat de Baune and a chocolate mousse made without crème. The prices are reasonable and the restaurant is open for both lunch and dinner. Check out Josette’s Web site for upcoming events (www.josettesbistro.com). Located at 4983 W. Flamingo, 702.227.4575
